Eastern & Australian Steamship Company: Torpedoed & Sunk - 15/07/1944
Notes on loss: At 22.13 hours on 15 Jul, 1944, the unescorted Tanda (Master Thomas John Mills) was hit by two torpedoes from Japanese submarine I8, and sank about 52 miles northwest of Mangalore in the Arabian Sea. 18 crew members and one passenger were lost. The master, 158 crew members, twelve gunners and 26 passengers were picked up.
