|In 2007, Lotterywest approved a bid by the Friends of Woodman Point Recreation Camp [Inc] for a Heritage Interpretation Grant to survey the two cemeteries located at Woodman Point. The two cemeteries in the Woodman Point Regional Park, one of which is managed by DPaW's, Regional Parks Branch, was surveyed due to their heritage significance. |
Under the direction of Dr. Gaye Nayton, professional historical archaeologist, DPaW, then DEC, supported the group's application, along with the Heritage Council of Western Australia, the National Trust of Australia [WA], the Royal Western Australian Historical Society, and the Department of Sport and Recreation, which manages the other cemetery.
Heritage groups have recognised the sites in the Woodman Point Regional Park as significant at a local, State and National level.
Sadly, Gaye Nayton passed away on the 5th December 2013, aged 59.
